2026 ASRC Awards Nominations
The ASRC Board of Directors created four (4) awards that recognize Alabama RTs for promoting, advocating, educating, and advancing our profession.
These awards are announced each year at the annual conference.

The Ronda Hood Award
This award is named after longtime Alabama RT Advocate, Leader, and Alabama RT Licensee #1, Ronda Hood. It is awarded to an Alabama RT that has provided lasting and sustainable contributions to our profession. This is a lifetime achievement award.

The Brenda "BB" Basnight Award
This award is named after longtime Alabama RT and Camp WheezeAway founder, BB Basnight. This award recognizes an Alabama respiratory therapist who has demonstrated outstanding service to the profession through dedication to mentoring and/or community service that helps promote respiratory therapy.

The Fred Hill Award
This award is named after longtime Alabama RT Leader, Educator, and Advocate, Fred Hill.
This award recognizes an Alabama respiratory therapist who practices in a specialty role outside of traditional bedside clinical care.
Specialty practice areas may include, but are not limited to:
• Education (RT program faculty or clinical educators)
• Critical Care Transport
• Diagnostics (PFTs, sleep studies, bronchoscopy)
• Research
• Pulmonary Rehabilitation
• Home Care
• Telemedicine
• Other specialty areas of respiratory care

The Don Creel Award
This award is named after longtime Alabama RT and Medical Specialties Account Manger, Don Creel. This award recognizes a company, vendor, or industrial representative who has demonstrated exceptional support of Alabama respiratory therapists.
